Three Formats of Cricket and Popular Tournaments
Cricket is the most popular sport in Bangladesh, and it tops the charts in betting too. T20, ODI and Test — each of these three formats has different markets and strategies.
T20: The fastest format. A match finishes in just 20 overs, so odds change quickly. BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) and IPL are played in this format. BPL is especially familiar to fans in Dhaka.
ODI: A 50-over match allows for slightly longer-term planning. This format is common in ICC events and bilateral series. Top batsman and total runs markets are popular here.
Test: In a five-day match a draw is a possible result, so there are three options — Team A wins, Team B wins, or draw. Session-based markets are also available in this format.
At bigtaka 2, markets are open for every major match in the T20 World Cup, BPL, IPL and international cricket.
Football and Other Sports Betting
Alongside cricket, football markets are also available at bigtaka 2. Markets for match winner, goal scorer and half-time result are offered for international football including EPL, La Liga and UEFA Champions League.
The main difference between football and cricket betting structures is the presence of a draw. In cricket T20 or ODI format, one of two teams — Team A or Team B — wins. In football a draw is one of the most common results, so there are three options when calculating odds. Understanding this difference reduces the chance of a wrong assumption when placing a bet.
In two-outcome sports like tennis, badminton and kabaddi there are again only two results — similar to cricket — which some bettors find simpler.

Popular Betting Markets — 7 Examples
Below is a brief introduction to the most commonly used markets. Every example is fictional — no real match or player names have been used.
Match Winner
The simplest market — choose whether Team A or Team B will win. No draw in T20 or ODI, just two options.
Toss Winner
Before the match starts you can bet on either team to win the toss. The result does not depend directly on the play.
Top Batsman
Select which batsman in a team will score the most runs. This market is more common in ODI and Test.
Total Runs Over/Under
A specific number is set — for example 160. Choose whether the total runs will be more than that (over) or less (under).
Method of First Wicket
In this special market you choose a specific method — bowled, caught, run out — for how the first wicket will fall.
Multi Bet
Add multiple selections together — if all are correct you get a return at the combined odds. If one is wrong the entire bet is lost.
Handicap Betting
The stronger team is artificially set back to even out the market. For example: if Team A is given a handicap of −1.5 runs, Team A must win by at least 2 runs for the bet to win. This structure can be understood without any specific stake or return example.
How to Read Odds — Three Formats
The odds for the same match are written in three different ways — decimal, fractional and American. bigtaka 2 generally uses the decimal format, but all three are explained below.
Things to Remember
- In decimal, anything above 1 means profit
- In fractional, numerator = profit, denominator = stake
- American + means profit on a ৳100 bet
- American − means how much to stake to make ৳100 profit
Example 1 — Bet on Team A to Win
For a bet on Team A to win, the decimal odds are 2.50, fractional 3/2, American +150.
Place a ৳1,000 bet and if Team A wins the total return is ৳2,500 — which includes ৳1,500 profit plus the original ৳1,000 back. If Team A loses the full ৳1,000 is gone.
UnderdogExample 2 — Bet on Team B to Win (Favourite)
Team B is the favourite so the odds are lower — decimal 1.80, fractional 4/5, American −125 (a ৳125 stake is needed to make ৳100 profit).
On a ৳1,000 bet if Team B wins the total return is ৳1,800 — including ৳800 profit.

Live In-Play Betting — Bet While the Match is On
In-play betting means markets stay open after the match has started. Odds change after every over, every wicket and every big boundary.
Say Team A made a good start in the first innings but suddenly two wickets fell in quick succession — at that point Team A's odds of winning would increase and Team B's odds would drop. That is how the market shifts with the pace of the game.
In-play markets move fastest in T20 matches because every ball can change the situation. Live-updated odds are visible directly in the in-play section at bigtaka 2.
Know Before You Bet — Some Practical Tips
Betting is a form of entertainment — set a fixed amount and play within it, never go beyond your budget.
-
Understand the format before betting. T20 and Test have different market structures — one has no draw, the other does. Betting with the wrong assumption can lead to a confusing result.
-
Start with one market. Beginners should focus on the match winner market first. Once you are comfortable reading odds, gradually explore other markets.
-
Be careful with multi bets. If three selections have decimal odds of 1.40 × 1.80 × 1.90 the combined odds are roughly 4.79 — a ৳100 bet could return ৳479, but if even one selection is wrong the entire bet is lost.
-
Set a budget. Decide in advance how much you will place on each match. For more on responsible betting read the responsible gaming guide.
-
Do not rush in in-play. Odds change fast in live markets — take a moment to think before making a decision.
